Customer Satisfaction Campaign 482: Noise from power steering system
Background
The check valve mounted inside the power steering banjo bolt may loosen and create power steering noise. Other possible symptoms are high fluid level
in the fluid reservoir, or that the fluid gets abnormally warm.
All cars within the VIN Serial Number ranges listed below must have this power steering banjo bolt replaced.
Cars affected
Saab 9-3 models within VIN Serial No. ranges:
X2005573-X2008735 and X2020001-X2025640
Saab 9-3 Convertible models within VIN Serial No. ranges:
X7001918-X7004278 and X7020001-X7021480
Owner Notification
As much as possible, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Saab Cars USA, Inc.
A VIN Status List will be supplied to you prior to any owner notification. If you do not receive a Status List, this is an indication that no affected
vehicles have been sold to/by your dealership.
Please check your IRIS On-Line Recall & Service-Campaign Inquiry for open campaigns.
NOTE:
Please note that a number of vehicles within these VIN Serial Number Ranges were rectified at the Factory through a Delivery Stop process, at the
ports-of-entry prior to shipment to dealers or at dealers through a Retail Delivery stop announced 9/16/98. All such vehicles should have the
Campaign plate stamped in position A-2 and have a yellow paint mark on the banjo bolt. Prior to performing any work, check the Campaign plate.
Also check the Recall/Service Campaign Inquiry before doing any work. Any vehicle rectified will be indicated as complete and no owner
notification will be sent for those cars.
