Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Replacement

To remove

1. Viggen RHD: Remove the stay between the strut towers.
2. Drain the brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir. Use special tool 88 19 096 Brake bleed
3. Place a sheet of paper or a cloth under the master cylinder.

4. Disconnect the brake pipes and plug the connections.
5. Remove the two master cylinder retaining nuts and lift out the master cylinder.
6. Transfer the brake fluid reservoir to the new master cylinder.

Viggen LHD: Put the adapter plate and angle bracket on to the new cylinder.

To Fit

1. Fit the master cylinder to the brake servo unit and tighten the retaining nuts.
2. Connect the brake pipes. Remove the paper or cloth from under the master cylinder.
3. Fill with the brake fluid reservoir with brake fluid.
4. Bleed the brake system.
5. Check the function by depressing the brake pedal. Check the tightness of the brake pipe connections as well.
6. Viggen RHD: Fit the stay between the strut towers.
7. Check the function of the brakes.
