Voltage Regulator: Service and Repair

To remove

The method is described with the generator removed.

Remove the three bolts/nuts that hold the protective housing on the generator.

Remove the two bolts that hold the regulator and then pull it up.

The generator brushes are mounted on the regulator and the unit is changed as a whole.

To fit

1 Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it bears against the regulator.

Clean and apply a thin layer of Vaseline to prevent oxidation.

Clean the ground connection of the regulator and apply Vaseline.

Fit the regulator.

Fit the protective housing on the generator.
