Balance Shaft Chain: Service and Repair

Changing The Balancer Shaft Chain 

To remove 

1. Remove the power train, see Power train

2. Zero the engine by turning the crankshaft in the engine's direction of rotation until the timing marks on the pulley and timing cover are aligned.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
4. Remove the timing cover (not cylinder head or oil sump). See Timing cover
