Side Air Bag: Service and Repair

To remove

Ignition switch in the OFF position.

Slide the seat forwards as far as it will go.

Undo the rear of the seat, 2 bolts.

Slide the seat back and undo the two bolts in the front edge.

Tilt the seat back, cut the cable tie and unplug the 29-pin connector under the seat.

Unfasten the belt, if any.

Lift the seat out of the car.

Unfasten the cord that holds the lower edge of the backrest cover.

Remove the upholstery retaining batten at the bottom.

Pull the stiffening board out of the backrest upholstery.

Disconnect the airbag plug from the 29-pin connector under the seat. Release the cable by cutting the tie. Note the run of the cable under the seat,
so as to facilitate re-assembly.

Unfasten the rear pan of the backrest cover, by unfastening the cover battens along the sides, and fold the cover away to the side.
