Background

Due to contamination within the shift lock solenoid, the shifter may get stuck in Park.

A new, improved shift lock solenoid should be installed on all 9-3 models within the affected VIN Serial No. Range. 

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 3- and 5-door models within VIN Serial No. Ranges: X2000001 - X2023753

Saab 9-3 Convertible within VIN Serial No. Ranges: X7000001 - X7020971

Owner Notification

As much as possible, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Saab Cars USA, Inc.

A VIN Status List will be supplied to you prior to any owner notification. If you do not receive a Status List, this is an indication that no affected
vehicles have been sold to/by your dealership.

Procedure

Replace the shift lock solenoid using the following procedure:

Remove the gear selector lever housing.

Important

When working with a dismantled selector lever housing, be sure to protect it from damage by laying it on a soft surface, such as a clean shop rag or a
piece of foam rubber.

Cut the table ties.
