The gas generator comprises a steel housing, two electric detonators, two explosive charges with different quantities of powder for stage one and two,
pressurised gas and gas distribution unit that distributes the gas.

The gas generator is detonated in two stages: a primary stage (70% pressure) and secondary stage (30% pressure). The delay between the two
detonations depends on the information the control module receives from the various sensors.

On receiving an activation command, the control module supplies voltage to the detonators (1) which ignite the explosive charges (2 and 3). During stage
1 an explosive charge (2) is detonated, which is a charge of 28.4 g. During stage 2 a further charge (3) is detonated, which is of 4.3 g. The compressed
gas expands from the heat. The gas passes through a gas distribution unit (6) before it proceeds to the airbag.
