Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

Replacement Of Crankshaft Seal Behind The Flywheel (In Car) 

To remove

1. (man.) Remove the gearbox, see To remove under Manual gearbox.

(aut.) Remove the gearbox, see "Complete automatic transmission" under Automatic transmission.

2. Remove the clutch and pressure plate, see Changing the complete clutch
3. Remove the flywheel or driven plate.
4. Use a screwdriver to prise out the old seal, taking care not to damage the sealing surface.

To fit

1. Grease the gasket and place it on fitting tool for crankshaft seal, flywheel end 83 94 884 and screw it onto the crankshaft. Press in the gasket by

screwing together the tool. The gasket is correctly positioned when the tool bottoms out.

2. Fit the flywheel or driven plate.
