2. Fit a new dust excluder to the track rod and rack housing. Fit new clips and using pliers 30 16 235.
3. Screw in the track-rod end the same number of turns as when it was removed.
NOTE: The left and right track-rod ends are different. The track-rod ends should curve slightly backwards when fitted. Markings: LH =
left-hand side, RH = right-hand side.
4. Bolt the track-rod end to the steering swivel member.
Tightening torque 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
5. Tighten the track-rod end's locknut.
Tightening torque 70 Nm (55 ft. lbs.)
6. Fit the wheel.
Tightening torques
aluminium wheel 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.)
steel wheel 50 Nm + 2 x 90°, max. 110 Nm (37 ft. lbs. + 2 x 90°, max. 81 ft. lbs.)
Lower the car to the floor.
7. Check the toe-in and adjust if required. Use Toe-in clause 88 19 013.
