7. Fit the new sound insulation, part no. 50 32 727, on the right-hand side. Be sure to turn it the right way round and do not fit it too far forward.
Press the plastic recess in the sound insulation and make sure that it is not close up against the filler cap lock. Make sure it fits tight against the
inner and outer plates.
8. Pull in the handle for the filler cap emergency opening through the side trim.
9. Fit the side trim and safety net, if fitted. Do not fit the scuff plate yet if the sound insulation on the left-hand side is to be replaced as well.
Procedure, left-hand side
On cars with a chassis number up to and including W305 1700, the existing sound insulation must be changed.
1. Remove the CD changer, if fitted.
2. Remove the rear end of the left-hand side trim (3 plastic nuts).
