Throttle Body: Service and Repair

Throttle Body

WARNING
Be careful if the car is warm. The coolant is hot and there is a risk of burns from the intake manifold.

To remove

1. Turn the ignition to OFF.

2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Unscrew the expansion tank filler cap to release the pressure, if any, and then screw it back into place.
4. Detach the turbo pressure pipe from the throttle body.

5. Clamp the two coolant hoses to the throttle body.
6. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body's pedal arm.
7. Unplug the limp-home solenoid's connector.
8. Unplug the throttle body's 10-pin connector.
9. Detach the vacuum hose and the connection to the purge line under the limp-home solenoid.

10. Detach the two coolant hoses from the throttle body.

11. Undo the 3 retaining screws to the throttle body and then remove it.
