The gas generator comprises a light-alloy housing, electric detonator, explosive charge and filter. The gas generator is detonated in two stages: a primary
stage (70%) and secondary stage (30%). The delay between the two detonations depends on the information the control module receives from the various
sensors.
On receiving an activation command, the control module sends a current pulse to the detonator which ignites the explosive charge. On combustion, this
explosive charge generates a gas. The filter cools the gas and removes particles from it before it passes into the airbag.
