Brief Description Of The SID

The purpose of SID is to give information to the driver and also to control the horn, instrument and display lighting, and perform calculations for the SID
unit computer functions. It has its own diagnostic function and trouble codes are set when faults occur.

SID receives information from its own sensors and contacts and receives information from other systems. Certain information is sent by SID on the bus.

SID has the following own sensors:

Outside temperature sensor

Steering wheel controls

Engine coolant level sensor

Washer fluid level sensor

Filament monitor, front lights

Rheostat

Indoor Light Sensor Value

Outside temperature sensor

The temperature sensor sends information to SID on the current outside temperature.
