Saab 9-5 MY02 within VIN range 23005988-23011696. 

Background

The brake pipes to the rear wheels may have been insufficiently tightened to the ABS unit, due to incorrect settings on the machine.

This problem has been rectified on some cars within the VIN range, independent of this service campaign. In these cases, the brake pipes have been
marked with yellow paint.

Procedure

Examine box B5 on the modification identity plate and check for any paint marks on the brake pipes before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is
not marked or if the brake pipes are not marked with yellow paint.

1.

Tighten the brake pipe nipple for the right-hand connection on the rear of the ABS unit.

Tightening torque 16 Nm (12 lbf ft)

2.

Tighten the brake pipe nipple for the left-hand connection on the rear of the ABS unit.

Mark box B5 on the modification identity plate after completing this procedure. If the work was carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If
done by a dealer, mark it with an "8".
