Apply primer. Use Standox 1K Fullprimer.

Apply the finish coat.

IMPORTANT

The paintwork must be flawless to prevent the onset of corrosion. In addition, an imperfect paintwork repair could result in the layers of paint separating
under the bead of adhesive.

4. If there is no old adhesive bead or if it is not intact, paint primer must be applied to painted tailgate surfaces with which the adhesive will come in

contact. Use Primer, part no. 30 18 702 (red lid).

5. Close the tailgate.
6. Fit the lifting handle on the outside of the rear window and place the window inside up on a stand.

7. Refit the seal on the wiper motor. Check that the arrow on the seal sits against the marking on the window.

NOTE:  Do not remove the pieces of tape from the spacers of the new window. They protect against squeaks.

8. Thoroughly clean the window edge with Glass activator Betawipe 04604 (yellow lid). Carefully dampen the edge with the special brush that comes

with the adhesive kit. Wipe dry with the lint-free cloth that comes with the adhesive kit. Avoid touching the cleaned surface.

IMPORTANT

Do not allow the cleaning agent to dry naturally as it may leave traces of grease on the glass. Always dry with clean, lint-free rags and refold them
frequently.

9. Apply Glass primer Betaprime 5001 (green lid) on the cleaned surface. Use the glass primer that comes with the adhesive kit. Allow the primer to

dry for 10 minutes.

10. Avoid touching the primed surface.

NOTE:  If the rear window is to be secured with tape after being fitted, make sure the upper part of the tailgate has been cleaned before starting to fit the
rear window.

11. Apply the adhesive as follows:

Clip off the tip of the adhesive cartridge nozzle so as to provide a suitable shape to the bead of adhesive.

Hold the gun perpendicular to the surface of the glass and apply a bead of adhesive to the primed surface. Start at the bottom edge of the glass.
Check that there are no voids in the bead of adhesive.
