Before starting work on the electrical system:

Take off your wristwatch and any rings you may be wearing

Before disconnecting the battery, make sure the customer has the radio code

Disconnect one of the battery terminals if any electrical components are to be removed

Always follow instructions and regulations where applicable

Production Variations

Where SOP and Rev.1 are specified in lists, only cars from Rev.1 have been supplied to markets US/CA. On account of this, there are separate
wiring diagrams for the US/CA variant and for the variant on other markets.

VIN

Cars for the US/CA market have VINs starting with X, while cars for other markets have numbers starting with W.

Fault Diagnosis With the Aid of Wiring Diagrams

INTRODUCTION

In the following pages we will explain in greater detail how the wiring diagrams are drawn up.

SERVICE CATEGORIES

The wiring diagrams are divided into different system groups. The division and order in this manual has been adapted to the division of service
categories in other manual and in WIS:

Within each service category, the wiring diagrams are then arranged in ascending order within the group.

The first wiring diagram in, for example, the group Engine system is "TRIONIC engine management system" and the last wiring diagram in the
group is "Radiator Fan".

A complete list of all system groups and their systems will be found on the next two pages.

Symbols Used In the Wiring Diagrams

The wiring diagrams are drawn using the following conditions:

Unless otherwise indicated, switches and relays are represented in their inactivated and unenergized state.
