Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
ABS 5.4
1. Unscrew the cap on the brake-fluid reservoir and top up the fluid. Fit the funnel (included in brake-bleeding kit 88 19 096) on the reservoir.
2. Place one end of a hose in the funnel and the other in a flask containing clean brake fluid.
3. Raise the car. Connect the bleeder unit hose to the front left wheel and open the nipple. Drain off about 0.1 litres of brake fluid.
4. Tighten the nipple, fit the rubber plug and transfer the bleeder unit to the rear right wheel. Unscrew the nipple and drain off approximately 0.05
liters of fluid.
5. Tighten the nipple, fit the rubber plug and transfer the bleeder unit to the front right wheel. Unscrew the nipple and drain off approximately 0.1
liters of fluid.
6. Tighten the nipple, fit the rubber plug and transfer the bleeder unit to the rear left wheel. Unscrew the nipple and drain off approximately 0.05
liters of fluid.
7. Tighten the nipple, fit the rubber plug and lower the car.
8. Check the operation of the brakes. Press the brake pedal and check that it does not feel spongy or go all the way down to the floor.
9. Remove the filler funnel, hose and flask.
10. Top up the brake fluid level.
