Procedure

Replace the shift lock solenoid using the following procedure:

Remove the center console.

a

Remove the trim ring from around the PRNDL plate.

Carefully remove the storage compartment or ashtray with holder using a screwdriver.

Remove the gear lever cover, 2 screws. See point 3. (Note: picture indicates manual shifter but is included to show points 3, 4 and 5.)

Unplug the connector for the central locking system switch. See point 4.

Lift out the gear lever cover and unplug the connector for the switches to the seat heaters and cigarette lighter. See point 5.

Remove the rear part of the center console by lifting it straight up and unplugging the connector. See point 6.

Select Park (P) and remove the key.

h

Rotate and lift up the theft protection antenna unit (bayonet fitting) from the ignition switch and unplug the connector. See point 6.

Insert the key and select neutral.

Disconnect the switch for the electric window lifts and unplug the connectors. See point 9.
