Addressing ACC Panel Display Complaint

Background
The original ACC unit auto-calibration function causes the ACC display to light up brightly and then go out. The display then shows 0 or 0-HI and the
ventilation fan stops for about 30 seconds. Sometimes the code 0-22 or 1-22 is shown on the display. To address a customer complaint, a new software
version should be loaded using Tech 2.

Cars affected
Saab 9-5 models up to and including VIN Y3017122

Parts required
Saab TIS 2000, SPS Version 5, Tech 2 version 35.000 (issued as separate CD January 20, 2000). Future editions of WIS will include this programming.

Procedure

Load the new ACC control module software using the Tech 2.

Once the ACC control module software has been loaded, the auto-calibration will become less noticeable. The ACC control module will
auto-calibrate in the background, and therefore auto-calibration will be less visible to  customer.

Calibration is indicated by the display flashing for approximately one second. The display shows the most recent setting and the fan speed is
simultaneously lowered two steps. After calibration is complete, the ACC control module returns the system to the setting used prior to calibration.

Explain to the customer that it is normal for the system to require auto-calibration.
