Limp Home Throttle Valve: Removal and Replacement

To remove

Remove the engine cover.

Remove the lower screw (which may be difficult to reach), using a magnetic T15 bit.

Unplug the connector.

Remove the upper screw.

Remove the solenoid.
To fit
Fit in reverse order.
Spray the connector with Kontakt 61 contact cleaner (pant No. 30 21 763).
Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.8 lbf ft).
Important
On removal of the limp-home solenoid, the throttle body goes into mechanical limp-home mode. After fitting, the limp-home mechanism must therefore
be reset as described in "Resetting activated limp-home solenoid."

Remove the pedal bracket's cover by undoing the 3 screws and clip. Bend the cover down and carefully withdraw it. Mind the leads running to the
data link connector and the wiring for the righting.
