Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Crankshaft position sensor

WARNING:  Be very careful as the exhaust pipe from the turbo can become extremely hot.

To remove

Remove the manifold's heat shield.

Remove the bolt securing the heat shield and sensor.

Remove the sensor and O-ring.

Trace the sensor's connecting lead and detach the retaining clip from the water pipe.

Remove the connector from the holder.

Unplug the connector.

Change the sensor.

To fit

Prepare the sensor so that the wiring runs alongside the water pipe. Change the O-ring as necessary and smear it with motor oil.
