Voltage Regulator: Service and Repair

Changing the voltage regulator and generator brushes

To remove

This method is described with the generator already removed.

Loosen three screws and remove the generator's protective housing.

Loosen two screws to remove the regulator.

Remove the regulator which is fitted with catches.

The generator brushes are fixed to the regulator and the whole unit must be replaced.

To fit

Carefully straighten the spring tab so that it is against the regulator.

Clean and apply a thin layer of vaseline to prevent oxidation.

Clean the ground connection on the regulator and apply vaseline.

Fit the voltage regulator.

Fit the protective housing on the generator.
