General

The radio in the Saab Audio System is an AM/FM receiver with PLL frequency synthesis for precise station tuning (frequency lock).

The radio is available with or without RDS. The RDS version of the radio is fitted to cars for the EU market. RDS is not used in other markets.

Function

The aerial signal for the radio is supplied from the aerial amplifier via coaxial cable and a separate connector (HF connector) to the main unit. 
The radio is activated by the RADIO button on the main unit. When the radio is active, information is transmitted to the bus. The SID unit reads the
information on the bus and shows the present selling on the display.

Presets (1-6) for direct selection of preset radio stations.

Band, for selection of frequency band (AM/FM).

Manual tuning up/down in frequency band.

Automatic station search, up/down in frequency band.

Automatic search with storage (AS) of the 6 strongest radio stations on the AM or FM band.

RDS on/off.
