License Plate Pocket Applique Loose or Comes Off (Replace Applique)

This bulletin is being revised to add model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-111-003 (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment that the chrome trim is loose or missing on the end gate.
Cause
The plastic stakes that retain the chrome applique to the license plate pocket may be weak and snapping off in the car wash or when grabbed by the edge
when opening the end gate.
Correction
Replace the applique. Follow the procedure below.
If the applique is still on the pocket but loose, grab the lower edge of the applique and pull the remainder off.
Remove the emblem from the applique.
Remove the license plate pocket and remove the remains of the plastic tabs that fell inside after the applique was removed. Refer to Handle And License
Pocket-Rear Door Outside in SI.
Remove the plastic tabs from the new applique and use 3M(TM) Automotive Attachment Tape, P/N 06377, or equivalent.
Clean the emblem and use 3M(TM) Automotive Attachment Tape, P/N 06377.
Make sure that the surface is clean and dry and install the applique to the pocket and install the emblem.
Install the license plate pocket. Refer to Handle And License Pocket-Rear Door Outside in SI.
