Front Door Latch: Service and Repair

Front Side Door Latch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Close the window to the full up position. 
2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement  (See: Front Door Panel/Service and Repair/Front Side Door Trim

Panel Replacement).

3. Remove the rear half of the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement  (See: Front Door Panel/Service and

Repair/Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement). 

4. Disconnect the lock rod retaining clip from the outside door handle. 
5. Remove the lock rod from the outside door handle.
6. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the cylinder, if equipped. 
7. Remove the inside door handle. Refer to Door Inside Handle Replacement  (See: Front Door Handle/Front Door Interior Handle/Service and

Repair).

8. Remove the 3 screws that retain the latch to the door. 
9. Position the latch in order to disconnect the electrical connectors as needed.

10. Remove the latch from the door.

11. Noting the position of the inside handle lock rods, remove the inside handle lock rods from the latch. 
12. Noting the position of the outside handle lock rods, remove the outside handle lock rods from the latch. 
13. Remove the actuator from latch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement  (See: Locks/Power Locks/Power Door Lock

Actuator/Service and Repair/Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement). 

Installation Procedure

1. Install the actuator to the latch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement  (See: Locks/Power Locks/Power Door Lock

Actuator/Service and Repair/Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement).
