Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement

Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement
Caution:  Refer to Brake Dust Caution  (See: Service Precautions/Technician Safety Information/Brake Dust Caution).

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle  (See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation  (See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Service and Repair

).

3. Inspect the brake caliper assembly. Refer to Brake Caliper Inspection  (See: Testing and Inspection).

Notice:  Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible
brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which
may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

4. Remove the rear brake caliper assembly, relocate the brake caliper to the side. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement  (See: Rear Brake Caliper

Replacement).

5. Inspect the brake pads. Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection  (See: Disc Brake System/Brake Rotor/Disc/Testing and

Inspection/Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection).

6. Remove the front brake pads from the mounting bracket.
7. Inspect the brake hardware. Refer to Front Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection  (See: Disc Brake System/Testing and

Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Front Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection).

8. Remove the brake pad retaining clips from the mounting bracket.
