Valve Lifter Oil Filter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (5.3L) (See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair/Intake Manifold
Replacement).
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil pressure sensor.
Important: Do not allow dirt or debris to enter the passages of the manifold. Plug as required.
3. Remove the oil pressure sensor (1) and washer (2).
4. Remove the oil filter (3).
5. Inspect the O-ring (4) for cuts or damage. If the filter is plugged or the O-ring is cut or damaged, replace the filter and O-ring as an assembly.
Installation Procedure
Important: Do not allow dirt or debris to enter the passages of the manifold. Plug as required.
1. Install a NEW oil filter (3) and O-ring (4) assembly.
2. Apply sealant to the threads of the sensor. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants (See: Specifications/Mechanical Specifications/Sealers,
Adhesives, and Lubricants) for the correct part number.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Notice).
3. Install the oil pressure sensor (1) and washer (2).
