Introduction

Saab-Scania is conducting a Service Campaign for the purpose of upgrading the door panels on 1986 900 Convertibles to the 1987 design. The later
style panel has a leather covering over the upper sill to protect against cracking or splitting of the plastic skin. All 1986 900 Convertibles are eligible to
receive a new inner panel for the right and left side door and should have these installed, regardless of whether the original panels are damaged or not.
A special owner letter will be sent to all owners of 1986 Convertibles. Parts supplies will be limited from the beginning and the letter will better explain
the spare parts situation than our usual computer-generated Service Campaign notice would have.

As usual a status listing of cars handled by your dealership is attached to this S.I.
Parts Involved

An initial supply of door panels will not be shipped to your dealership. For this campaign, orders must be placed with your servicing Saab Parts Depot. If
you have panels on order, do not cancel these orders. Existing backorders for the original part numbers will be converted to the new part numbers and
will be filled first.

Limited supplies of door panels will be available for repairs beginning about the end of March 1987. Receiving schedules indicate that enough panels
will be received by the end of May to satisfy all cars involved in the campaign.

Warranty Information

Use a regular warranty claim as in all Saab Service Campaigns. Follow the claim instructions given here when filling out the claim. No additional parts
or labor may appear on the claim.

SAAB SERVICE CAMPAIGN NOTICE

Service Campaign 518 All 1986 900 Convertibles

Dear Saab Convertible Owner, Saab-Scania of America, Inc. is conducting a service campaign for the purpose of upgrading the inner door panels of
1986 Convertibles to a newer design. Our records indicate that you are the owner of a 1986 Saab Convertible.

Some splitting of the door panel plastic skin has been discovered along the upper sill and to prevent the possibility of this happening to your car, new
style panels are being made available. This is not a safety recall.

Supplies of upgraded inner door panels will be very limited at the start of this campaign. We suggest that you call your Saab dealer and reserve new door
panels in your name. It is planned that adequate quantities of panels will be available to begin repairs in April and complete all cars involved by
mid-June. Please make arrangements with your Saab dealer to contact you to have the work performed without delay once the parts have arrived. If your
dealer has already ordered new door panels for you, be sure to let him know you received this notice. Henceforth all panels delivered will be the new
