Idle Speed: Adjustments

1.

Start and operate engine until normal operating temperature is obtained.

2.

Connect a suitable tachometer onto engine following manufacturer's instructions.

3.

Check automatic idle control (AIC) system operation by grounding the GN/R (green/red) wire located near the evaporator case assembly.

4.

When the wire is grounded, engine idle speed should be 725-775 RPM.

5.

If idle speed obtained is not as specified, turn air bleed screw on the throttle housing assembly. Do not use the throttle stop adjusting screw to
adjust engine idle speed.

6.

Disconnect jumper wire grounding AIC test lead. The idle speed should stabilize at 775-925 RPM, when the ground lead is disconnected.
