1.
Raise vehicle and remove wheel.
2.
Rotate disc so recess in disc aligns with pads.
3.
Remove damper spring, pin retaining clip, and U-pin on Girling type caliper, Fig. 1, or retaining pins, and spring on ATE type caliper, Fig. 2. On
9000 models, remove lower guide pin bolt and pivot caliper upward, Fig. 3.
4.
Remove pads either by hand or with extractor No. 8995771.
5.
On Girling type calipers, lubricate sliding surfaces of caliper yoke.
6.
Loosen bleeder valve and press caliper pistons back into bore by pushing piston into bore using handle of tool 8996043, then close bleeder valve.
7.
Reverse procedure to install brake pads, noting the following:
a. Pump brake pedal until brakes just begin to operate.
b. If front pads are replaced, lift hand brake lever 5 notches and pump brake pedal until hand brake will hold with lever raised 7-8 notches, then
check adjustment. Do not move vehicle until brakes are operating properly.
