Regardless of hose type, loosen the hose's tube end coupling at the oil thermostat and rotate the hose as far forward as possible (Figure 2,
hose no. 2). Obtain at least 0.4 in. (10 mm) clearance between this hose and the starter cable. Retighten. Also ensure that neither oil cooler
hose rubs against the battery heat shield, battery holddown screw or radiator support flange or any clips fastened to that flange.

M85 Turbo Automatics up to F1005686 must have the oil cooler lines from the top of the oil thermostat to the transmission primary housing
rerouted so it cannot contact the front powertrain mount. The routing of the plus cable to the starter must also be checked and adjusted, if
necessary.

Remove the hood.

Loosen the ignition coil clamp and place the coil to one side.

c.

Disconnect the APC solenoid and place it to one side.

d.

Remove the tube between the intercooler and the turbocharger.

e.

Loosen the automatic transmission's oil dipstick tube and twist the tube rearwards.

f.

Disconnect the cooling fan cable harness and remove the cooling fans.

g.

Disconnect the oil cooler hose with the 180~ bent tube end (Figure 1, hose no. 1) at the oil thermostat and then loosen the thermostat anchor
screw.
