By now you are undoubtedly aware of the worldwide effort to control the use of ozone-depleting substances, such as, chloroflourocarbons (CFC's). R-12
(tradename Freon), the refrigerant which has long been used in automotive air conditioning systems, is one of the most common of these environmentally
harmful CFC'S.

All manufacturers have agreed to introduce a new AC refrigerant within the next five years and, accordingly, AC systems are being redeveloped to
accommodate it. In the meantime, regulation will steadily reduce the availability of R-12 for use in automotive production and servicing. The cost of
R-12 for the current type of AC systems has already begun to rise.

A number of states have recently proposed or enacted CFC-related legislation which will require the automotive service industry to recycle R-12, and
more states will follow. Vermont, Hawaii and Illinois require recycling after January 1, 1991.

For all the right reasons - environmental, economic and legal - the time has come for your service department to consider purchasing modem AC
