152A 29-pole white connector

In the electrical distribution box in the engine compartment on the left-hand wheel housing. The connector is accessible from the interior of the
car.

Operation

The supply to brake light switch 29 is taken from fuse 31, via the 29-pole white connector 152A. When the car is braked, the contacts will close and
brake lamps 30 will be energized.

Depending on the model year and market, one or two lamps (30) are used on each side for the brake lights. When two lamps are used, the second lamp
is connected by means of a jumper (A). (On the Combi Coupe', via cable 132A RED.)

U.S.A., Canadian and Japanese markets

On the 1984 models, jumper A is not fitted, i.e. only one lamp on each side of the car lights up when the car is braked.

On the 1985 and 1986 models, jumper A is fitted, so two lamps light up on each side of the car. The 1986 models are also equipped with high-level
brake lights 109, which are located at the bottom of the rear window. On the Combi Coupe', the brake lights are connected to the rear light fittings in
the tailgate via two single-pole connectors, and on the Sedan, via one 2-pole connector (59).

Fault-tracing hints

1. Check fuse 31 and check that the supply to it is live.

2. Check that brake light switch 29 is live.

3. Operate the brake light switch. Check the bulbs and check that the supplies to them are live. Check the earthing at each lamp.

4. Check the connectors, cable harnesses and earth connections.
