Fuel Injector: Description and Operation
Injectors
The injectors are of solenoid type and the quantity of fuel that is injected, i.e the opening duration of the valves, is determined by the control module.
The injectors all open and close simultaneously.
When the engine is running they open once each for revolution of the engine, when starting from cold they open twice for each engine revolution.
The injectors are fitted in the inlet manifold, one for each cylinder, and inject the fuel immediately above the mating surfaces of the inlet manifold and
cylinder head.
The opening duration of the valves is regulated within very tight limits: 2-12 milliseconds (1 millisecond = 1/1000th of a second).
