The Defect
Saab-Scania has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a defect which may be safety-related exists in all 1985
Turbos with air conditioning from the beginning of the model year up to late model year production.
These vehicles are being recalled by Saab-Scania of America, Inc. so that the flexible fuel hose between the injector fuel rail and the fuel pressure
regulator may be inspected for position and if necessary, adjusted. This fuel hose may have been turned out of its normal position when tightened during
final assembly. A sharp bend or twist in the hose near one of its end fittings could lead to hose rupture and, consequently, fuel leakage and possibly a
fire.
Some vehicles may require a replacement hose should damage to the hose exist.
NOTE! If the subject fuel line is disconnected or replaced at any time during the life of the car for any reason including work on the fuel system or
removal of the AC compressor bracket, be sure that the hose is positioned according to this S.I.
Vehicles Affected By This Recall
1985 Turbos within the following VIN Serial No. ranges which were wholesaled prior to May 6, 1985:
F1000001 - F1031123
Turbos wholesaled as of May 7, 1985 have been inspected/adjusted at port-of-entry or the Factory and need no further checking (no notices will be
issued for these vehicles).
