Wheel Hub: Service and Repair
Rear Axle Hubs, Bearings & Seals

1.

Raise rear of vehicle and support at frame.

2.

Remove wheel, caliper and disc.

3.

Remove dust cap, locking device nut and washer.

4.

Remove hub assembly, using a suitable puller if needed. Hub, bearing, and seals are an integral unit and must be serviced as an assembly.

5.

Remove seal from hub, using a suitable tool.

6.

Remove both inner races and drive out the outer races with a brass drift inserted into the three milled recesses in hub.

7.

Press in new outer races using drift or equivalent.

8.

Fill the inner bearing space with chassis grease and install inner races.

9.

Seat new seal using tools from step 7.

10.

Reverse procedure to assemble.

11.

Torque locknut to 36 ft.lbs. Loosen nut completely, then retorque 1.4-2.9 ft.lbs.
