MODIFICATION OF CRANKSHAFT SEAL                          ISSUE: 02/88-1035 INSTALLATION TOOL (FLYWHEEL END)

APPLICATION: 900, 9000 MODELS 86-

Beginning with M86 production the length of the guide pin in the crankshaft for aligning the flywheel was increased. The increased length of the pin will
not allow the tool to seat fully against the crankshaft. To ensure proper positioning of the tool and correct seal installation the tool must be modified.

Modification of the tool is simple but, nevertheless should be done accurately. The alignment hole for the guide pin must be drilled with a 29/64" (11
mm) drill through the outer shell of the tool, to allow enough depth for the increased length of the pin. Modify the tool as shown in the illustration so it
may be used on both engine variants.
