Pressure Transducer: Testing and Inspection

Remove the center console and the lower section of the safety padding.  Disconnect the pressure transducer hose at the "Y" connector and connect
a pressure gauge to the hose.

Connect a pressure pump, such as a cooling system tester, to the hose from the pressure transducer.

3.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the pressure transducer and measure the resistance of the pressure transducer.  The reading should be
between 5 and 13 Ohms.

With the pressure pump, increase the pressure to the transducer to 14.5 psi (1 bar), then lower the pressure to 8.3 psi (0.6 bar), while lightly
tapping the transducer with the handle of a screwdriver.  Measure the resistance of the transducer.  The resistance should be 83-93 Ohms at 8.3 psi.
 If the readings on steps 3 and 4 are not obtained, or a shorted or open circuit is indicated, replace the pressure transducer.  

5.

Disconnect the pressure pump and replace it with a hand operated vacuum pump.  

6.

Draw a vacuum of approximately 6.6 psi (0.5 bar) and check the resistance of the regulator.  There should be no signs of a shorted or open circuit.
