79-69-363 Cable Clamp

The following part is needed only if the B+ cable from the alternator to starter on 1984 models has sustained terminal damage. The part must be ordered as needed. No initial supply.

Labor Allowance:

Enter Labor Operation #10381 (0.3 hour).

Time includes checking B+ clamp at alternator, reconnecting the positive wire at distribution block and securing cable harness at
the brake servo.

Modification Instructions

Step 1 - Check the B+ Cable Clamp on the Alternator.

Cars affected - applies to 1984 and 1985 vehicles within the following VIN Serial Nos.:

E1014607 - F1011771 E2006536 - F2006008

Pull the B+ wire towards the engine and away from the left wheel housing. There must be 3/4" (20 mm) clearance between the wire and the wheel
housing.

With the wire positioned, gently squeeze the wire clamp (see drawing) to capture the wire in this position.

If the terminal end of the B+ cable for 1984 model cars has sustained any vibration damage, replace the entire B+ cable with a new one. Use P/N
85-99-094.

Do not attempt to route a replacement B+ cable through the harness, instead cable tie it alongside the existing harness.

Step 2 - Reposition the Positive Cable on the Distribution Block.

Cars Affected - applies to all 1984 vehicles (1985 vehicles are O.K.).
