M92 900 Convertibles
On some of the convertibles, you may receive customer a complaint of engine noise being heard inside the car. This noise may be even more noticeable
when the AC is running. The noise is most likely entering the car through a gap between the upper edge of the firewall and the windscreen. To fix this
noise problem, seal the upper edge of the firewall with Sikaflex 255 sealant as described below.
Cars Affected:
900 Convertibles between the following VINs:
N7006178 - N7008530
Parts:
Sikaflex 255
30 07 127
(One tube per 6 cars is recommended)
Action:
Seal the upper edge of the firewall as follows:
1.
Pull the instrument panel away tom the firewall as described in the service manual. Refer to steps 9-15 on pages 843-3 and 843-4 of the 8:5
Convertible Service Manual for this procedure.
2.
Seal the upper edge of the firewall with Sikaflex 255 as shown in Figure 1. Seal along the entire edge, from A-pillar to A-pillar.
3.
Push the instrument panel back in place as described in the service manual. Refer to steps 16-23 on pages 843-10 and 843-12 of the 8:5
