Brake Pad: Service and Repair

Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2.
Using pliers, simultaneously push in brake piston and press caliper outward to release pads from rotor.
3.
Remove upper guide pin bolt, Fig. 1.
4.
Pivot caliper downward, then remove brake pads.
5.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Clean surfaces between pads and carrier.
b. Press pistons fully into bores, taking care not to damage dust boots.
c. Ensure guide pins slide freely and dust covers are in good condition.
d. Pump brake pedal to move pads to operating positions. Do not move vehicle until brakes are operating properly.
