Be certain the outer cover (Figure 1-2) is properly refitted to ensure proper function of the latch.

Screw the latch in place as far to the rear in the vehicle as possible when the seat cushion is closed.

Tightening torque: 9-14 N-m (5.9-10.3 ft.lb.)

Check the operation of the latch by pulling on the loop (Figure 1-A) before closing the seat cushion.

Close the seat cushion and check its operation. Continue as described below if the complaint persists.

NOTE:

Please counsel the owner on the proper closing/latching procedure for seat cushions. I.E. latch the larger (passenger side) cushion first, then the
smaller (driver's side) cushion. In both cases, be sure there is a loud click, and check that the seat cushions are securely in place by trying to
move them forward (not by pulling on the release strap).

Remove the screws securing the seat cushion's brackets to the floor and adjust the cushion outward as far as possible. Carry out this adjustment
with the seat cushion closed. Tighten the screws on completion of the adjustment. See Figure 2-A.

This adjustment reduces the friction between the two seat cushions when closing them. Tightening torque: 8-14 N-m (5.9-10.3 ft.lb.)

If the carpet underneath the seat cushion is pulled too tight, it may prevent the latch from engaging with the locking pin. If necessary, adjust the
carpet by tilting the backrest forward to access the moulding on the forward edge of the trunk. See Figure 2-B.

Closing the seat cushion may be hampered if the rear wiring harness, which runs up some distance on the wheel housing, gets in the way when the
seat cushion is closed. See Figure 2-C.

Undo the trim over the wheel housing and reposition the wiring correctly. Fix it in place with tape. See Figure 2-D.
