CORRECTION TO 9000 SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 8:6, AIRBAG

APPLICATION: ALL 9000 MODELS WITH AIRBAGS
The 9000 Airbag Service Manual must be corrected to account for a change in the coil spring contact unit adjustment procedure. The coil spring
adjustment must be made before the steering wheel is installed. Please note the following correction on pages 19, 93, 108 and 125.

Rotate the contact unit (coil spring) clockwise to the end position. Then rotate it back counter clockwise 3.5 turns. Install the steering wheel.

CAUTION

IF THE COIL SPRING IS ROTATED COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO ITS STOP THE COILED PLASTIC SPRING MAY BREAK AND RENDER
THE AIRBAG SYSTEM INOPERABLE.

Attached to this S.I. is a page of stickers to be inserted into your dealership copy of the Airbag Service Manual.

1.

The "CAUTION" sticker should be placed covering the paragraph at the bottom of page 19.

2.

The full page width stickers that have the procedural change and the diagram should be placed covering the text and photograph at the bottom
of pages 93, 108 and 125.

The yellow tag that is attached to the wires of the coil spring contact unit should also be ignored and removed.

CAUTION

IF THE COIL SPRING IS ROTATED COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO ITS STOP, THE COILED PLASTIC BAND MAY BREAK AND RENDER

Adjust the contact unit (coil spring) to the middle
position as follows:

Make sure that the wheels are pointing straight ahead.

Rotate the contact unit (coil spring) clockwise to the end position. Then rotate it back counter clockwise 3.5 turns. Install the steering wheel.
