Select "PARK" and recheck the torque of the bolt.

Stake the bolt in four places.

Install the transmission side cover using a new gasket (P/N 75 56 228). Do not re-use the old gasket. Do not use soft sealers such as silicone
seal in place of a gasket or to supplement a gasket. Torque the side cover screws to 7.3 ft. lb. (10 N-m).

Replacement of Output Shaft Bolt

If for any reason the early style bolt for the output shaft gear is replaced with the stake-type bolt, the side cover must also be replaced with a
later style (P/N 75 97 602). This change is required to provide clearance for the new style bolt.

Follow the same installation and torquing procedures as outlined for the pinion shaft bolt.
