MODIFICATION OF GEAR SELECTOR WHEN                  ISSUE: 02/87-937 INSTALLING REPLACEMENT GEARBOX

APPLICATION: 1986 9000 MODELS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION
A reverse brake mechanism was introduced into 9000 manual transmissions from VIN Serial No. G1026305 (also batch produced, G1025511-25633).
When selecting reverse gear the reverse selector shaft applies the brake to fifth gear slowing down the input shaft.

All replacement transmissions are being built to this latest specification. When installing into an early 1986 model (without reverse brake mechanism),
the gear selector must be modified to properly engage reverse gear. See the modification described below.
