Measuring The Tension Of Multigroove Belt
Measuring the multigroove belts tension not equipped with automatic belt tensioner.
NOTE: After being tightened to a certain level, a belt will very quickly lose its tension in operation. If the belt becomes too slack, it will start to slip,
wear will be accelerated and it will not be long before the belt fails altogether. To prevent this happening, it is absolutely vital that a new belt or belt that
is being refitted is tightened to the specified tension. The following instructions must be followed carefully to ensure that the tension of the belt is
measured correctly:

Use belt tension meter 8393985.

Measure the tension when the belt is cold. Belts are tighter when they are hot. A cold belt is one fitted to an engine that has been switched off for
at least half an hour at room temperature (20°C/68°F).

Leave the bonnet (hood) open.

The crankshaft must not be rotated before the tension of a newly fitted belt has been measured.

For a belt to be regarded as new, it must not have been run for more than 60 seconds.
Sensor Head Of Belt-tension Meter
Using the belt-tension meter:
1. Position the belt between the jaws of the sensor head on the meter.
2. Raise the pressure and read off the value when the red indicator light comes on.
