10-year inspection of seat-belt tensioners and Supplementary Restraint System (SRS)
Cars affected
Saab 9000 M86-M93 with seat-belt tensioners.
Saab 9000 M88-M93 with seat-belt tensioners and airbag.
Background
Instructions, service manuals and labels affixed to the side of the driver's door on the above models call for inspection of the seat-belt tensioners and
Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) after a period of 10 years.
Cars manufactured before M94 should be treated as Saab 9000 M94-.
The SRS system is maintenance-free and does not require extra inspection after 10 years. The SRS inspections that are included in Saab's regular service
schedules, see Service Manual 1 Service 1994-97, are sufficient.
Customers inquiring about a special 10-year inspection of the SRS system are to be informed that this inspection has been replaced by the inspections
that are normally performed in connection with Saab's regular service schedules.
