Whistling Noise From Front Grille

Application:

A new front grille has been introduced in production as from VIN P1021860 (inclusive) which eliminates the possible whistling noise at speed from the
front of the vehicle. This new part is also available from spare parts inventory for use when a customer complains of this whistling noise on an earlier
production vehicle.

It is permissible to continue the use of the add-on spoiler while supplies last (see PSI 11/92-0267).

9000 CS up to VIN-P1021859 (inclusive)

Action:

If a customer complains of a whistling noise from the grille area at speeds of about 45 to 65 mph:

1.

Road test the car to familiarize yourself with the whistling noise.

2.

Remove the grille and road test the vehicle again to verify that the noise is emanating from the grille.

3.

If the grille is determined to be the source of the noise, replace the grille with P/N 44 46 605.

4.

Road test the vehicle to make certain the noise is gone.

For Warranty Repairs, use Failure Coding 82332-44-0-01-01. Time allowance is Labor Operation No. 82332 (0.2 hour) plus 0.2 hour in straight time for
a road test.
