9000 L4-2290cc 2.3L DOHC Turbo EFI (1992)
Idle Speed: Adjustments
1.
Start and operate engine until normal operating temperature is obtained. Check ignition timing and CO setting.
2.
Loosen locknut on dashpot and lower dashpot clear of the throttle lever.
3.
Connect a suitable dwell angle tester and tachometer onto engine following manufacturer's instructions.
4.
Disconnect electrical connector from throttle position sensor and connect jumper wire between pins 1 and 2 on back of connector.
5.
Remove throttle position sensor retaining screws and rotate the sensor clear of throttle butterfly.
6.
Start engine and isolate all possible loads. Setting must not be performed when radiator fan is running.
7.
On models not fitted with air bleed screws, loosen throttle stop locknut and turn screw counterclockwise until it does not touch throttle linkage.
8.
On models fitted with air bleed screws, loosen throttle stop locknut and turn screw counterclockwise until it does not touches throttle linkage.
Slowly turn screw clockwise until it contacts the linkage, then turn screw an additional 1/2-3/4 turn. Tighten locknut and turn air bleed screw in
until fully seated.
9.
On all models, turn adjusting screw clockwise so the IAC valve setting decreases. Correct idle speed should be 850 RPM.
