Boost Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

Checking the boost presure control valve 

Important:  Never check the performance of the boost pressure control valve by connecting it directly to battery voltage.

Check the signal hoses

1  Disconnect all the boost pressure control valve's hoses from the turbocharger, intake manifold and turbo pressure regulator's diaphragm unit.

2  Blow through the hose from the turbocharger (C) and check that air comes out of the hose for the turbo regulator's diaphragm unit (W).

3  Blow through the return hose from the intake manifold (R) and check that air comes out of the hose for the turbocharger (C).

4  Repair or replace the hoses as necessary.

Check the boost pressure control valve's constriction 

Owing to a constriction in the boost pressure control valve's connection to the turbocharger (C), this opening becomes clogged with dirt more readily
than the other openings.

Check that the constriction is not clogged. If the hole is too small or the dirt cannot be removed, change the valve.
